always in cursive
This is how always looks in school cursive: 6 letters, and the parts to watch are that wa is a high join and y goes below the line. Print the sheet below to practise it.
always written once as a model, then in grey to trace, then on empty lines to write alone.

How to write it, step by step
- Join the letters without lifting your pencil: a, l, w, a, y and s.
- Watch the high join (wa): after b, o, v or w, the next letter starts at the midline, not the baseline.
- Let the y drop below the baseline and loop back up through it.

Tips for each letter
- a
- Leaving the top open, so a looks like u. Close the circle before you slant down.
- l
- Making the loop so thin it disappears, so l looks like a tall i without a dot. Keep the loop open.
- w
- Ending at the baseline. Cursive w ends high, like b, o and v.
- y
- Leaving the loop open below the line. Bring the tail back up so it crosses at the baseline.
- s
- Writing it like a print s. Cursive s is a point at the top and a small closed belly at the bottom.
